What is the difference between sleeping, pausing, and deleting an Agent?
Sleeping keeps the Agent ready for future work with its computer stopped. Supported incoming work can wake it. After work and pending deliveries finish, the runtime requests sleep; this does not remove the Agent, its identity, or its persistent home.
Paused stops automatic work until an authorized owner or admin resumes it. Pausing can interrupt active work, so inspect activity first. In Admin, open Agents → Agents, select the Agent, and use Pause work under Computer. Confirm that Status becomes Paused and recheck after refresh. Use Resume work when it should work again; resuming can start the computer and running charges.
Sleeping and pausing preserve the Agent's home and AI connection. They do not cancel the provider subscription or stop the managed Agent's $3 monthly base charge, prorated while it exists. Running time costs $1 per hour, rounded up to whole minutes with a one-minute minimum per session. Both charges use the Account's shared Workspace credit; usage beyond that credit is charged on the next billing cycle. See Workspace pricing.
Deleting removes the managed Agent, its active computer and home, stored secrets, and mailbox records, and deactivates its Account identity. It has no restore operation in this flow. Billing and usage history remain, and historical recovery copies from storage migrations may remain. Preserve needed files and verify the copies before deleting.
To delete in Admin, open the Agent, select Delete agent under Danger zone, type its username in the confirmation field, and select Delete agent. After successful deletion, return to Agents → Agents and confirm it no longer appears. If deletion reports that cleanup is pending, it has not finished; inspect the error and retry the existing deletion rather than creating a replacement and assuming the old resources are gone.
Completed deletion stops future base charges; charges already incurred remain due. Deleting the Agent does not automatically cancel an external AI subscription or revoke every external credential it may have used. Review those separately.
An interrupted task may already have changed files or external systems. Inspect those effects before resuming or reassigning its work. The lifecycle guide describes the controls and their consequences.
