How do I stop a recurring task?

Complete or cancel the task to end its recurring series. Use pause if you intend to keep the series for later. Completing only one occurrence leaves a recurring task active.

These commands require Task CLI 0.1.2 or later. Run socra update if your installed plugin predates that release.

To mark the whole task finished, replace TASK_ID with its ID:

socra task complete TASK_ID

If you are stopping it without marking the work complete, use:

socra task cancel TASK_ID

Both actions clear the next run, pause the saved schedule, and cancel pending occurrences. Check the returned status to confirm the change. An action that is already executing cannot be undone by changing the task's status.

To restart a completed or canceled task, reopen it first:

socra task reopen TASK_ID

Reopening returns the task to pending but leaves its schedule paused. Review the instructions and timing before resuming:

socra task resume TASK_ID

A one-time schedule in the past cannot resume as it stands. Update it to a future time first. If the task has no schedule, add one before using resume.

To choose a future one-time run, use an ISO timestamp with Z or a time-zone offset:

socra task update TASK_ID --at "2030-01-15T09:00:00-07:00"

Replace this example with your intended future date and offset. On an active task, this update also resumes scheduling.
