How do I create and manage a group in Admin?

An Account owner or admin can use Directory → Groups to organize Account members for access to resources. A group gives access only where a resource's permissions use that group. Creating it does not grant access to every app.

Create the group

  1. Open Admin and check the selected Account.
  2. Open Directory → Groups and select Create group.
  3. Enter Group name.
  4. Review Group key, which is filled from the name. Change it before saving if needed; the key cannot be changed later.
  5. Select Create.

You become the initial group owner. Confirm the name and key on the group's page.

Add or remove members

Open the group and select Add member. Choose an active Account member, then select Add. Confirm that the member appears in the list.

The group owner cannot be removed from the member list. To transfer ownership first, select Edit, choose an active, non-guest Account user under Owner, then select Save. Confirm that the group's Owner field shows the new owner before removing the previous owner. The group owner's role is separate from the Account owner role.

To remove someone, select their Remove member action and confirm Remove member. Check that the person is absent from the member list, then reopen the group to verify the saved change. This removes access supplied by the group. Access granted directly or through another group remains separate.

If a change fails, reopen the group and inspect its current membership before retrying. Deleting the group removes it and its memberships from future authorization decisions, so review any resources that depend on it first.
