How do I enable a service for a Cloud Project?

Use Service Usage to enable an available service on the Project that will consume it. Enabling a service makes that capability available in the Project. The person or application making requests must also have the required IAM permissions.

Find the service

You need the Socra CLI with its Account and Service plugins, a signed-in Account, and the target Project ID. Replace PROJECT_ID in these commands with the Project's proj_… ID.

List the services available to the Project:

socra service list --available --project PROJECT_ID

List the services already enabled:

socra service list --enabled --project PROJECT_ID

The list interface supports --limit and --after. Continue with the returned cursor when more results remain. An empty enabled list means that this query found no enabled services; use the available list to discover what can be enabled.

Use the exact service name returned by discovery, such as pubsub.socra.cloud. A marketing page or an installed CLI plugin alone does not establish that the service is enabled for this Project.

Enable and verify

Replace SERVICE_NAME with the service's exact name:

socra service enable SERVICE_NAME --project PROJECT_ID

The CLI confirms the service and Project when enablement succeeds. Run the enabled-service list again and confirm that the service appears in the intended Project before creating resources.

Installing a CLI plugin gives your computer commands for a service. Service Usage controls the Project's enabled capabilities, and IAM determines which operations each identity can perform. Funding is an additional requirement for new billable work on services with active usage charges.

If access is still denied

Check the Project ID used by the failing request. A service enabled on one Project is not enabled on every Project in the Account.

If the error says SERVICE_DISABLED, inspect that Project's enabled list. If it names a missing permission, ask the Project administrator for the access needed for that operation. Reinstalling the CLI does not grant access.

See the Service Usage reference for command options and the Cloud pricing page for active charges.
