# How does Cloud billing work?

Your Account owns a prepaid Cloud balance. Usage is attributed to the Project that consumed a service, and active usage charges draw from the Account's balance. Workspace usage credit and Cloud funding are separate.

## Which services charge for usage?

The [Cloud pricing page](https://cloud.socra.com/pricing) lists Build at USD $0.01 per build minute. Domains, Secrets, IAM, and OAuth are included at no additional charge. Data transfer charges can apply.

Only active meters deduct Cloud credits. A service being available in the catalog does not by itself establish a price for every operation. Check the service's published pricing before starting work that can incur charges.

## Where do I manage the balance?

An Account owner manages Cloud credits through [Usage in Admin](https://admin.socra.com/billing/usage). The Account owner can add funds with a saved payment method and manage automatic refill settings. A refill becomes spendable after payment succeeds.

When enabled, automatic refill uses the default saved payment method to bring the balance back toward a target when it reaches the configured threshold. An optional calendar-month maximum limits automatic refills. If only part of that maximum remains, the refill can stop short of the target. Failed payments or a reached refill limit leave the available balance unchanged and produce an Account-level alert.

The refill maximum controls automatic purchases. It does not reserve funds for work that has already been accepted.

## What happens when credit runs out?

For an active billable service, a positive settled balance admits new billable work. A zero or negative balance blocks subsequent billable work until the Account is funded again.

Work accepted while the Account was funded can finish and settle later. Its actual usage can take the balance below zero. Admission does not reserve an estimated charge, so the balance displayed when work starts is not a guarantee that the final balance will remain positive.

Read, get, and list operations still require the correct Project permissions and service enablement. Those operations do not require a positive balance merely to inspect resources.

## How do Projects affect payment?

Each Project identifies the application that consumed the service. Projects belong permanently to their Account and do not need a separate billing-account attachment.

Cloud credit purchases and Cloud usage remain separate from Workspace subscription invoices and included Workspace usage credit. Inspect the Account's Cloud activity when reconciling a Project's consumption with the balance.
