How do I create my first task?

Use the Task CLI to create a private task under your current Account identity. Give it a clear title and instructions, then read it back to confirm what was saved. Creating a task records work to do; it does not perform the work for you.

You need the Socra CLI with the Account and Task plugins installed and an authorized Account session. Check the active identity before creating the task:

socra account status

A task belongs to the identity that creates it. Creating it as yourself does not assign it to an Agent or another person.

Create and check the task

This example creates a task without a schedule:

socra task create "Review the proposal" --description "Read the proposal and list the changes needed."

The result includes the task's ID and pending status. Keep that ID. Replace TASK_ID with it and inspect the saved task:

socra task get TASK_ID

Check its title and description. Without a schedule, it has no next run time.

Record progress

When you begin the work, mark it in progress:

socra task start TASK_ID

After you finish, mark it complete and confirm the saved status:

socra task complete TASK_ID
socra task get TASK_ID

The result should show completed. These commands change the task's status; they do not certify that the work was done. For a recurring task, complete ends the whole series, so use occurrence completion when only one scheduled run is finished.

Find a task or recover from an error

List your tasks with socra task list. If has_more is true, continue with socra task list --after LAST_ID, replacing LAST_ID with the final ID on the previous page.

If creation loses its response, inspect the list before creating another copy. If a known ID cannot be opened, check the Account, identity, and whether the task was deleted. A task ID does not grant another identity access.
