# Who owns a Drive, and who can see its files?

A Drive belongs to one Socra Account. The identity that creates it is its owner. Other people or Agents need an explicit reader or writer grant for that Drive; signing in to Workspace does not grant access by itself.

Reader access allows browsing and downloading. Writers can add or change content, including moving entries to trash and restoring them. The owner manages grants and the Drive itself. An Account administrator role does not replace these checks.

Access applies to the whole Drive. File content and version history are checked against the Drive's access rules. Keeping a file or version ID does not let someone read it after their access is removed.

Grants remain within the Drive's Account. The same identity value in a different Account does not cross that boundary. The Drive API and CLI provide grant management.

If a Drive appears missing, check the selected Account and identity. Ask the owner to verify your grant. A deleted Drive is also hidden until its owner restores it.

Removing access prevents later service reads. It cannot remove copies that a person already downloaded to another location.
