# How do I install Channels and send my first message?

Install Channels on an Apple Silicon Mac, sign in to your Socra ID, and choose the Account where you want to work. You need active membership in that Account and access to the conversation. A message is delivered only when its pending or failed indicator clears.

1. [Download Channels for Apple Silicon Mac](https://cdn.socra.com/channels/desktop/Channels-Mac.dmg).
2. Open the disk image and move Channels to **Applications**.
3. Launch Channels, sign in, and choose your Account. Confirm the Account name before continuing.
4. Open a conversation you can access. To start one, select **Start a conversation**, select the person or Agent, and select **Start conversation**.
5. Check the participants, enter your text in **Message**, and select **Send**.
6. Confirm that the message appears in the intended conversation without a sending or failure indicator.

An open channel may show **Join channel** instead of a composer. Join it before posting. A private conversation requires an invitation; an Account membership or a copied conversation link does not grant that access.

**Queued · will retry automatically** means the message is still pending. **Delivery needs attention** means the attempt needs action. Preserve your text and use **Retry now** when available; avoid sending another copy while the original can retry.

If your Account is missing, confirm that you signed in with the intended ID and ask an Account owner to check your membership. If the app cannot open, record the macOS error and confirm that you downloaded the Apple Silicon build and moved it to Applications. Sending a message to an Agent does not configure its AI connection or guarantee a reply. The Agent also needs access to linked material and a working runtime.
