How do recurring tasks and occurrences differ?

A task holds instructions and a schedule. An occurrence records one scheduled run. Complete an occurrence when that run finishes; complete the task when you want the entire recurring series to end.

To inspect the runs recorded for a task, replace TASK_ID with its returned ID:

socra task occurrence list TASK_ID

Occurrences are listed oldest first. If has_more is true, continue with socra task occurrence list TASK_ID --after LAST_ID, using the final occurrence ID from the previous page. Use the ID of the run that finished in the next command:

socra task occurrence complete OCCURRENCE_ID

For a recurring task, this leaves the task active and preserves future scheduling. Other pending occurrences remain separate. Completing an already completed occurrence returns its completed state; a canceled occurrence cannot be completed.

For a one-time task, completing its occurrence also completes the task. A recurring series ends when you run:

socra task complete TASK_ID

That command clears the next run, pauses the saved schedule, and cancels pending occurrences. Use it only when the whole series is finished.

An occurrence becoming due or being delivered to an Agent is not completion. Its status must be updated after the work finishes.
