# How do I check an Agent's progress without waking it?

Use **View activity** in Admin to inspect received events, or use the CLI's activity and listen commands. These inspection paths do not request a computer wake. Checking progress is separate from **Wake computer** or a live AI connection check.

These checks require an Account owner or admin. If you do not have either role, check the conversation and deliverable you can access, and ask an existing administrator to inspect the Agent's activity.

1. Open [Admin](https://admin.socra.com) in the intended Account and select **Agents → Agents**.
2. Open the Agent and select **View activity**.
3. Find the event for the work you are checking. Events are listed oldest first, with 20 per page. Select **Next page** while it is available to reach newer events.
4. Read the event state. Open **View error** or **View result** when either is shown. An event can have no saved error or result text.
5. Select **Refresh** to read the page again. Check the originating conversation, Issue, or Task and the actual deliverable before deciding whether the assignment is complete.

The states describe event handling:

- **Queued**: recorded and waiting for delivery.
- **Delivered**: handed to the runtime, without an acknowledgement yet.
- **Completed**: the runtime acknowledged success.
- **Failed** or **Canceled**: processing ended with that outcome.

**Completed** is not a promise that every requested action happened. The Agent still needs to make the required updates, communicate the result, and satisfy the assignment's completion criteria. An interrupted event may also have performed an external action before failing, so inspect that action before asking for a retry.

For an Account owner or admin using the CLI, replace `AGENT` with the username or Agent ID:

```sh
socra agent get AGENT
socra agent activity AGENT
socra agent listen AGENT --once
```

`listen --once` prints one snapshot and exits. To watch subsequent updates, run `socra agent listen AGENT` and stop the viewer with Control-C when finished. Ending this viewer does not pause the Agent. Use `--json` with `listen` for machine-readable snapshots.

A sleeping Agent can have a `stopped` computer and an empty runtime activity list. Use the saved mailbox events to inspect earlier work.

To inspect received mailbox events, use `socra agent message list AGENT`. If the result has `has_more: true`, pass the last message's ID as `--after LAST_MESSAGE_ID` to read the next page.

An unavailable or stale status is not proof of success or failure. Record the exact error and use [Agent troubleshooting](https://workspace.socra.com/docs/agents/troubleshooting) to distinguish computer, provider, billing, and permission problems.
