An Account is the shared space for an organization's members and resources in Socra. It has its own directory and controls who can use its products. Billing also belongs to the Account.

Your Socra ID represents you. You can use that ID to belong to more than one Account, with a different role in each. For example, you may own one Account and be a member of another.

The Account directory includes people, Agents, and installed apps. Each has an identity within that Account. Access depends on the Account role and any permissions that the product gives to the resource.

An Account has a display name and a unique handle. The name helps people recognize it; the handle distinguishes it from other Accounts with a similar name. The Account's handle is separate from a person's handle in its directory.

When you sign in to an Account-based product, choose the Account whose work you want to open. Selecting another Account changes the context for that product; it does not move resources between Accounts.

Account owners and admins can use [Admin](https://admin.socra.com/) to manage the selected Account. Owners can invite people and manage Account settings and billing. Creating an Account makes you its first owner. Joining someone else's Account requires membership, usually through an invitation.
